Rumours About The Legendary Rockers Are Rife, But With The 50 Year Anniversary Approaching, The Moment Won't Go Unnoticed
Just about everyone knows that this year marks the 50 year anniversary marking the beginning of The Rolling Stones. The exact "startup" of the legendary rockers is a popular topic of debate. After all looking at the history of their entry into the music world, their timeline looks like:
a) April 1962 - Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Brian Jones start playing as a band.
b) June, 1962 - "The Rolling Stones" play their first gig under their new name.
c) December, 1962 - Bill Wyman joins the band.
d) January, 1963 - Charlie Watts joins the band as their drummer.
So, now that April is almost over, June could be a suitable month for the big 50, but then December is a good anniversary month with Bill Wyman joining, and January next year is even better with all the band intact, knowing that Charlie Watts has been with the guys for all that time.
Rumours are circulating that 2013 is now becoming the more likely time to celebrate the big event.
There have even been whispers of another world tour. However, more likely are a series of on-off events around England. Charlie is adamant that he won't tour again. Bill had a traumatic flight some years ago, and absolutely refuses to fly ever again.
Instead of another major tour, plans are being drawn up for a series of one-offs and that suits Bill Wyman. Like Charlie, he won't tour again either, but a few shows seems within his comfort zone. At the ripe old age of 75, Bill is feeling he is just not up to extended rock-n-rolling. Charlie, 5 years younger, is also starting to feel that enough is enough.
Whatever happens, the 50 Year event will be marked somehow. A documentary movie is in its finishing stages, Bill Wyman has agreed to return for one or two gigs, and collectively together the rockers are keen. Time will tell.
