Do you remember last year when, a few months before his solo album hit stores, Drake mentioned it would be more personal and an improvement over his debut disc? At the time, he told Rolling Stone: "With this album, I want to tell a whole story. I don't want people to just hear a piece and judge the album on that.”
The rapper/singer is now taking the same stance for his third album. Now considering Take Care too “down” for his tastes, he says he’s giving his third album a new sound, one influenced by his move from Toronto to Los Angeles. He told Billboard: "Now I'm in a very, very, very, very different place than I've ever been, really focused on myself, really focused on my health, my body, my mind, really wanting to be the best I can possibly be...I'm in a different mindset now that I'm very proud of... It's going to be a very interesting album -- probably, to be honest with you, conceptually one of the most exciting projects I've worked on, just 'cause there's so many new things going on in my life."
That’s not to say his third album will be a fully new endeavor. Jamie xx, the producer of “Take Care,” may return, as may 2 Chainz and Noah “40” Shebib. Drake, apparently, has already started recording.
At the moment, the “Marvin’s Room” singer is preparing for the next U.S. leg of his Club Paradise Tour, which starts on May 7 in Concord, Calif. Joining him are J. Cole, Waka Flocka Flame, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, and French Montana, some of whom he may collaborate with. Additionally, he mentioned, new music may be released before his tour and then be performed live.
